Butte County is rolling out the welcome mat for its "Ag Tourism Sundays," when local farms and wineries are hosting open houses from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

About 30 farms and wineries on the route, called the Sierra Oro Farm Trail, will be open the first Sunday of the month, starting May 5.

"It's a way to boost farm tourism on Sundays," as well as showcase Butte County's boutique wineries, said Nicole Johanssen, farm trail tour coordinator.

To book a tour ($50 per person; $80 per couple) or to create your own driving map, call (916) 396-6872 or go to: www.sierraoro.org.

The first chartered tour is Sunday, May 5, including these stops: Long Creek Winery, Quilici Winery, Wagon Wheel Market, Grey Fox Winery and Morse Mandarin Farm.
