One of three people injured when a car crashed into an Auburn restaurant Monday afternoon has died.
Auburn police announced that a 53-year-old man, who had been pinned under the vehicle, succumbed to his injuries Tuesday night. His name was not released.
The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. Monday as a 72-year-old woman was attempting to park her car in front of Tio Pepe's restaurant on Washington Street. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it entered the outdoor patio dining area of the restaurant, striking three patrons and trapping one man under the vehicle.
The Auburn Fire Department responded and extricated the man from beneath the car. He was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
The man's wife and a male friend were also taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released later that day.
Police said the crash remains under investigation.
