• 65th ANNUAL SACRAMENTO ROSE SOCIETY SHOW

Where: Shepard Garden and Arts Center, 3330 McKinley Blvd., Sacramento

When: 1-5 p.m. today

This large show usually coincides with Sacramento's peak of bloom. See hundreds of flowers at their best. Also, see a large exhibit of 19th century roses and modern arrangements with an America's Cup sailing theme. Cut flowers and potted roses will be offered for sale. Entries will be accepted 6-10 a.m.; beginners welcome.


• 13th ANNUAL GARDENS OF FOLSOM TOUR

Where: Start at 121 Blakeslee Way, Folsom

When: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. today and Sunday

Admission: $15; youths age 15 and under admitted free (buy tickets online or local retailers such as Green Acres, Bushnell Gardens and Green Valley nurseries)

Six gorgeous gardens are featured on this tour, hosted by the Folsom Garden Club. Proceeds benefit local beautification projects and college scholarships.


• WHAT'S NEW IN THE NATIVE PLANT GARDEN?

Where: Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center, UC Davis

When: 2 p.m. today

Tour the recently renovated Mary Wattis Brown Garden of California Native Plants. See examples of native plants that work well in local home landscapes.


• ARBORETUM PLANT SALE

Where: Arboretum Teaching Nursery, Garrod Drive, UC Davis

When: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday

Admission: Free

This large sale features the arboretum's new Durable Delights collection as well as many other drought-tolerant, easy-care plants.


• 22nd ANNUAL WOODLAND LIBRARY ROSE CLUB GARDEN TOUR

Where: Start at Woodland Public Library, 250 First St., Woodland

When: Noon-5 p.m. Sunday

Admission: $20, $10 youths; available online

This popular tour includes several local gardens in historic Woodland, starting with the library's own rose garden.
