Auburn police on Friday identified Bret Montague, 54, of Auburn as the man who died of injuries suffered when a car crashed into an Auburn restaurant Monday.
Montague, who was pinned under the vehicle, succumbed to his injuries Tuesday night.
The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. Monday as a 72-year-old woman was attempting to park her car in front of Tio Pepe's restaurant on Washington Street. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it entered the outdoor patio dining area, striking three patrons and trapping Montague under the vehicle.
The Auburn Fire Department responded and extricated Montague from beneath the car. He was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
Montague's wife and a male friend were also taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released later that day.
Sgt. Rick Hardesty said the crash remains under investigation.
