A man fell from an Interstate 80 overpass in Natomas early Saturday and died after he was struck by more than one vehicle, according to a Highway Patrol collision report.
The accident happened at 5:20 a.m. at the Northgate Boulevard overpass when the man fell into a middle lane of westbound I-80 and was struck by a vehicle. The driver of that vehicle "fled the scene immediately after the collision," according to the collision report. "An undetermined number of vehicles then collided with (the victim) and fled the scene."
Several local TV stations have reported the man was cleaning graffiti off the overpass when he lost his footing. Highway Patrol Sgt. Raymond Cardona said officials have not confirmed what the man was doing before he fell.
The man's name has not been released pending notification of kin.
The Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information on the accident to call its North Sacramento office at 916-338-6710.
