Re "Perry weighs in on Ohman" and "The Bee's response" (Letters, April 27): To begin with, kudos to the editorial board of The Bee for defending its cartoonist in his depiction of the West Texas explosion. It truly was a tragedy. But the sad fact is that it could have been prevented.
Please Mr. Rick Perry (you don't deserve the title governor), spare me, the citizens of West and the rest of the country your pithy sanctimonious self righteousness. You and your governing board knew that this could have been prevented had you put into place the necessary workplace protections and inspections. The facts are that these people were killed by corporate greed. Will you have the guts to prosecute them criminally? I sincerely doubt it.
