Re "Hazy future for pot laws" (Page A1, April 27): It is gratifying to read about Sen. Darrell Steinberg's efforts to regulate cannabis. However, not every dispensary is run by Al Capone.
It is imperative for the sake of medical users to allow dispensaries to operate as legitimate businesses by allowing them to have bank accounts and leases. Threatening to close all dispensaries is akin to throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Let's be realistic and show other states that California politicians can manage an issue that will not go away. In these days of diminished revenues, the public would probably appreciate the monies that taxing the vexing weed would provide. All it takes is political courage.
