Sacramento area winds to lessen this afternoon

Winds are expected to decrease later today after a blustery overnight and morning.

Gusts around 35 mph were registered this morning at Sacramento's Executive Airport. The north wind is expected to lessen in intensity this afternoon.

The National Weather Service predicts that as the winds get lighter this week, the temperatures will increase. Today's predicted high of 87 degrees in Sacramento will be replaced on Thursday with a daytime maximum of 92.

The normal high for early May is around 77 degrees.

The detailed, 7-day forecast for the Sacramento region by the NWS:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 87. Breezy, with a north northwest wind 14 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 55. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 92. North northwest wind 7 to 10 mph.

Thursday night: Clear, with a low around 58. North northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Friday night: Clear, with a low around 59.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 92.

Saturday night: Clear, with a low around 56.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 85.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 54.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 54.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.
