Re "How bidders topped Seattle" (Page A1, May 7): The reason why the Sacramento City Council held the negotiations with the Kings and NBA so close to the vest is that it is a quid pro quo. We no longer need to wonder why a city that has to cut police, fire and other services would give away $300 million to multimillionaires. Now we know. It was so that this investment group could say that it didn't need $15 million a year in revenue sharing from the NBA because it could get that and more from the taxpayers of Sacramento without a vote on it.
