Placer County supervisors on Tuesday approved a plan for a phased opening of the new county jail in Roseville starting early next year.
The new 189,000-square-foot, 390-bed jail is at the Bill Santucci Justice Center, 10800 Industrial Ave., which also houses a courthouse and county office space.
Under the plan, the jail would open in several phases, costing the county $7.8 million in staffing and one-time costs during the 2013-2014 fiscal year.
