Galt residents are taking on the road an effort to keep their school libraries open.

A benefit production of "Julia Child says 'Bon Appetit!' " will be performed at 6 p.m. today at the Hutchins Street Square theater in Lodi.

Actress Linda Kenyon will star as chef Julia Child.

Tickets for the event are $22 general admission and $19 for seniors 62 and older, and students. VIP tickets for $48 will include wine and food pairings at Acquiesce Winery in Lodi.

The money will help keep libraries at six Galt schools open. The libraries were closed at the beginning of the school year because of budget cuts but were reopened after community members banded together to raise the money needed to pay library technicians.

"Re-open Galt School Libraries" is trying to raise $2,500 to keep the libraries open until the end of the school year.

For tickets or more information, call (209) 333-6782.

To donate money directly to the effort, send it to "Library," 1018 C St., Suite 210, Galt 95632.
