It's been awhile since the big-screen TV was turned onto a golf tournament on a Sunday afternoon – and at the same time the Warriors and Spurs headed into overtime in Game 4 of their Western Conference semifinal.

But when Tiger Woods leads on the back nine, it's must-see TV in my house. While we usually pull for the mid-major college teams to reach the Final Four or for the low-budget baseball teams to beat the overpriced big-market clubs in the World Series, it's fun to watch the world's best golfer do what he does best – win.

Mostly it's fun to watch Tiger be Tiger again, roaring like a lion this past weekend to become only the sixth golfer with multiple Players Championship titles.

It's fun to watch Woods walk with that swagger again. It's fun to watch as he intimidates and frustrates challengers – such as Sergio Garcia – wearing his trademark red polo shirt going for the win like a matador waving a red cape to lure a bull in for the kill.

It's fun to watch Woods dominate the PGA Tour. In seven starts this season, he has four wins, one more than he had in 2012.

Many golf purists will say Woods receives too much attention, that other winners deserve the same accolades.

But it's much more fun, and better for the game, to have Tiger Woods walking up to the 18th green on a late Sunday afternoon with the lead at the U.S. Open than it is to watch Webb Simpson or Graeme McDowell do the same.

What to watch

NBA playoffs, Warriors at Spurs, 6:30 p.m., TNT: Neither team has won two games in a row entering the pivotal Game 5.
