Audrienne Osborne, 17, is the illustrator of a new booklet for junior rangers distributed by Lassen Volcanic National Park.
A senior at Plumas Charter School, Osborne produced dozens of unique illustrations for the 16-page activity booklet used by aspiring rangers who visit the park.
She was selected from a pool of illustrators for the colorful and imaginative artwork that helps young people connect to Lassen Park, said Park Superintendent Darlene M. Koontz, who added that she was delighted to find the talented artist "in our own backyard."
Osborne contributed nearly 60 volunteer hours to the project during the school year, Koontz said.
The booklet provides activities that help young people learn about sustainability, wildlife, recreation, geology and the hydrothermal features of the park. Approximately 1,000 young visitors participate in the park's junior ranger program each year, said Koontz.
Printing of the new junior ranger activities booklet was made possible by a grant from the Lassen Association.
