Half of Sacramento County homes selling in 10 days or less

Another sign that the local housing market has entered a boom phase: Most properties are selling within two weeks.

The median length of time from listing to home sale last month in Sacramento County was 10 days, down from 29 days during April 2012, according to the Sacramento Association of Realtors.

About 81 percent of homes sold last month in Sacramento County were purchased within 30 days of going to market, up from 50 percent during the same month last year.

The last time such a high proportion of homes sold so quickly was in April 2005, the height of the prior housing boom.

In Sacramento County, the median sales price of a detached resale home rose from $208,000 in March to $215,000 in April, according to industry tracker DataQuick. The April price was up nearly 33 percent from April 2012, when it stood at $162,000, Dataquick said.
