A garden affair for history

What: Try your hand at an interactive treasure hunt outside and in the Governor's Mansion as docents dressed in period attire offer guidance. "The Magic of Spring, A Garden Affair at the Mansion," raises funds for operation and the continued restoration of the historic grounds. Light refreshments and a raffle are included.

When: 4-6 p.m.

Let's go: They're Legos!

What: For the 5-and-under crowd, is there anything more creative than a day with lots and lots of Legos? The Sacramento Public Library will entice that creativity at a Lego Block Party. There will Duplo/Mega blocks for the toddlers and Legos for the older kids. And the librarians will let parents and caregivers join in, too.

When: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Celebrate culture of the Pacific Rim

What: This year's theme of the 21st Pacific Rim Street Fest is "Shoes of Asian Pacific Rim Heritage." You'll be sure to move whatever shoes you choose to wear to drum beats or between vendor booths. Or you can let dancers or martial arts practitioners do the moving while you simply enjoy.

When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Film festival

See movies that were made by students

What: The 13th annual UC Davis Film Festival presents short live-action films, documentaries, comedies, drama, animation and political satire – all by UC Davis graduate and undergraduate students. There will even be red-carpet treatment there and at participating community sites. The UC Davis Department of Theatre and Dance, Cinema and Techno- cultural Studies, the Department of Design, and Art Studio produced the festival.

When: 8:30 p.m. both days

Strawberry Music Festival

Even banjos welcome!

What: Pull the camping gear from storage and point the vehicle toward Yosemite. It's time for the Straw- berry Music Festival. Clever lyrics, mind-boggling riffs and tight harmonies blend with the sounds of wind in the trees during this four-day family-friendly gathering that also offers all sorts of other activities for all ages. Among those on the spring lineup: Richard Thompson, Sam Bush, John Prine and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

Where: Yosemite National Park's Camp Mather, near Hetch Hetchy
