Sometimes bad things happen to good folks.
Take the River Cats, who put together a season-long bobblehead promotion featuring nine players who excelled for the team as a reward for their fans.
The first was Sunday, when the River Cats handed out Barry Zito bobbleheads to the first 2,500 fans. Whether it actually looks like Zito, who pitched for the River Cats in 2000, is in the eye of the beholder, but there's one glaring problem that can't be debated: The glove is on Zito's left hand his pitching hand.
We don't know if Zito is ambidextrous, but maybe he should have considered throwing right-handed during some of those awful seasons with the Giants.
And, who knows, the bobblehead might become a hot collector's item, like coins accidentally double-struck.
For those who didn't get the River Cats' Zito bobblehead, the Giants will be giving away one with a glove on his right hand to the first 40,000 fans at this Sunday's game against Colorado.
The River Cats will give away eight more bobbleheads Kurt Suzuki (June 16), Chris Carter (June 23), Jemile Weeks (June 30), Eric Hinske (July 12), Mark Ellis (July 13), Eric Byrnes (July 14), Nick Swisher (Aug. 4) and Mario Encarnacion (Aug. 18) and we're betting all will be checked closely.
