Region's gas prices dip another nickel
The average retail price of gasoline in the Sacramento area fell another 5 cents over the past week to $3.88 a gallon, according to national price tracker GasBuddy.com, which surveys 720 stations in the area.
Sacramento prices are now 23.6 cents lower than a year ago but 8.2 cents higher than a month ago. Area at-the-pump prices have fallen nearly a dime in the past two weeks.
Nationally, the average price of gas fell 1.5 cents to an average of $3.64 a gallon 3.1 cents higher than a year ago and up 13.1 cents from last month.
"While the national average has given up some ground to start the driving season, motorists have certainly seen a lot of ups and downs in different areas of the country," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.
Analysts said the comparatively low price of crude oil and steady supplies of motor fuel product have kept gas prices in check recently.
