School district should focus on students, not superintendent

Re "A hard charger runs into trouble" (Page A1, June 10): The San Juan Unified School District is much more than any employee complaints and rough management styles going on at the district office. We are 40,000 students and their parents who need and work hard for a good 21st century education in this incredibly competitive and dynamic global environment.

As an involved parent who has worked with the last four superintendents, I have found Superintendent Glynn Thompson to be exceptionally student focused, intelligent, caring and respectful of others' opinions. His accessibility, energy and leadership have inspired countless parents to be a part of the change our schools need. With Thompson as our leader, I believe our venerable district will resist resting on its laurels and surge ahead.

The school board should resolve the internal personnel issues fairly, and let the superintendent continue doing a great job for the 40,000 students he was hired to serve.
