New nightspot needs to get with the times, avoid sexism

Re "Nightspot for non-clubbers" (Living Here, June 11): I'm always eager to read about new restaurants and bars in our area, but looked twice at the phot caption in which Vanguard's owner, Trevor Shults, says he's hoping the bar will be an intimate setting for husbands to bring their wives for a drink after work.

What about wives working at the Capitol bringing their husbands? Or wives bringing wives? I guess this somewhat sexist and arcane attitude will go along well with the bar's "pre-Prohibition" era cocktails and the "his" and "hers" cocktail list. I, for one, will take my scotch neat. Cheers!
