Cats glance: Banwart's gem backed by Barton and Moore

Highlight: Travis Banwart and Brian Gordon combined on a six-hitter, and Daric Barton and Scott Moore each had three hits to lead the River Cats over the Tacoma Rainiers 6-1 on Saturday night at Raley Field. 

Packed house: The Cats had their second sellout (14,515) of the season and 74th in franchise history.

Up to 12: Michael Choice extended his hitting streak to 12 games, two shy of the River Cats' season high by Stephen Vogt.

River Cats moves: The A's released right-handed reliever Mike Ekstrom and promoted right-handed reliever Kyler Newby from Double-A Midland.

Today: River Cats RHP Sonny Gray (6-4, 2.48 ERA) vs. Tacoma RHP Brian Sweeney (7-1, 3.96), 1:05 p.m., Raley Field.
