Should the Kings bring back TV announcers Grant Napear and Jerry Reynolds?

Leading Off: Will Grant, Jerry stay as Kings' TV team?

The Kings have made many changes since the ownership group led by Vivek Ranadive assumed control of the team.

Pete D'Alessandro was hired as general manager to replace basketball president Geoff Petrie, and most of the basketball operations staff was let go. Earlier this month, Michael Malone replaced Keith Smart as coach and decided not to retain any of Smart's assistants. Three longtime members of the public relations staff were also cut loose.

But with all those changes, what we've been asked most in recent weeks – aside from the future of big man DeMarcus Cousins – is, "What about Grant and Jerry?"

Some fans argue that the Kings' longtime TV duo of Grant Napear and Jerry Reynolds should be replaced, too – that they've been doing it too long and the start of a new era is the perfect time for a change.

But others love how Napear calls games – "Put it in the book and send him to the line" is a well-known Grantism – and the "aw-shucks" personality Reynolds brings to the broadcast as an analyst.

Napear has been a fixture on Kings broadcasts since 1988, and Reynolds came to Sacramento with the Kings from Kansas City and has held numerous positions with the team, including coach, general manager and player personnel director. Between them, they have more than 50 years of institutional knowledge, but will that help them keep their TV jobs?

There's been no word, so at this point expect them in their usual places on opening night.
