Fair in Roseville

What: The Placer County Fair, which features everything from livestock shows to stock car racing, continues at the fairground in Roseville. A full slate of motor racing is scheduled tonight at the speedway. Other highlights are country music, big bands, kids fun, mixed martial arts and many other attractions.

Where: 800 All America City Blvd., Roseville.

When: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. both days.

Cost: Admission $5 general, $3 children 6 to 12 and seniors 60 and older, free for children 5 and younger.

Blues in the park

What: Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers will perform at the Pops in the Park series organized by Sacramento City Councilman Steve Cohn. The band will play at Sacramento's McKinley Park.

What: Just starting to trace your ancestors? The Sacramento Public Library wants to help with a "Beginning Genealogy: How to Trace Your Family History" event. Genealogist and lecture Karen Burney is scheduled to guide participants.

Drums and bugles

What: Drum and bugle corps teams from across the country are scheduled to compete at the 34th Moonlight Classic. The event will be held at Hornet Stadium at California State University, Sacramento. The competition is organized by Sponsors of Musical Enrichment, a nonprofit corporation that supports local youth music organizations and the performing arts.

Where: Hornet Stadium, 6000 J St., Sacramento.

When: 6 to 10 p.m.

Cost: Reserved tickets, $30; general bleachers, $20.
