Four people were shot, one fatally, after an argument broke out between two groups at a house party early Sunday, police reported.
A 19-year-old man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Three others a 15-year-old girl, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were also injured by gunfire, according to Michele Gigante of the Sacramento Police Department.
At 1:46 a.m., police were called to a report of multiple shots fired in the 4000 block of Sea Drift Way in the Valley Hi area. Upon arrival, they found that a shooting had occurred that was related to an earlier house party, but only a few people were still at the scene.
A short time later, an area hospital reported receiving four victims of a shooting in the emergency room.
The preliminary investigation found a disturbance had broken out between two groups at the party before the shooting. Both the confrontation and the shooting occurred outside the home.
"We're pretty confident it's a gang-related issue," Gigante said.
