Rain from an unseasonably moist air mass over Northern California is expected to drop perhaps more than a half inch of precipitation today in Sacramento.
The unusual summer storm will keep temperatures low and roads wet today, according to the National Weather Service.
"It won't be constant rain today," said Johnnie Powell, a forecast with the National Weather Service in Sacramento. "But we should get about .10 of an inch every three hours or so - about a half inch today and .25 tonight for a total of .75 at the most."
Powell said you can double that amount in the mountains.
Rain is also forecast for Tuesday before sunshine returns on Wednesday.
