Cats glance: Ex-Sac State standout Wheeler helps Sky Sox to win

Highlight: Sacramento State and El Camino High School product Tim Wheeler doubled home two runs in a four-run second inning to help the Colorado Sky Sox beat the River Cats 5-3 Monday night at Raley Field.

Rain delay: The start was delayed 51 minutes because of rain.

Great numbers: River Cats pitchers recorded 14 strikeouts, and the Cats outhit the Sky Sox 12-7. But Sacramento left 13 runners on base.

Straily coming back: The A's optioned Dan Straily to the River Cats on Sunday. He was 4-2 with a 5.00 ERA for the A's and is 3-0 with a 0.96 ERA for the River Cats this season.

Taking pitches: The River Cats' Daric Barton (56) and Jemile Weeks (48) are first and second, respectively, in walks in the Pacific Coast League.

Taylor's record: When Michael Taylor scored his third run Sunday, he became the River Cats' all-time leader in runs. With another run Monday, he has 235.

Today: River Cats RHP Travis Banwart (4-3, 4.50 ERA) vs. Colorado Springs RHP Drew Carpenter (1-3, 6.91), 12:05 p.m., Raley Field.
