A bone marrow registry drive is scheduled Saturday for a police officer and Sacramento area resident diagnosed with an aggressive blood cancer.

Gerald Vincent, 46, has lymphoma and has endured extensive and painful cancer treatments. He needs a bone marrow transplant, but a matching donor has not been found.

Vincent has had a long career serving not only as a patrol officer but also a firefighter, primarily in the Rohnert Park area.

BloodSource is holding the "Be The Match" bone marrow registry drive for Vincent from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Ignite Community Church, 7901 Stevenson Ave. Match registrants must be between the ages of 18 and 44.
