Thursday, July 4

Salute to the Red, White and Blue

The 17th annual Salute to the Red, White and Blue fireworks show hosted by the city of Elk Grove at the Elk Grove Regional Park (9950 Elk Grove Florin Road, Elk Grove). The festivities begin in the evening with live music and food. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. Admission is free; parking is $10 per vehicle. 5 p.m. Free. 4th of July – Family BLAST

Kids activities, food and beverage, live music (6-10 p.m.), hay mazes, arts and crafts, free kids contests and games, mechanical and inflatable rides, fireworks show (dark). Gates open at 4 p.m. Admission: $5 for parking in the tiers; $3 per person (walk-in at the gate); free for children ages 6 and younger. $15 per carload (includes parking on the grounds and gate admission for up to 6 people). Benicia Picnic in the Park and Fireworks

Fairfield Independence Day Parade

Fireworks on the Waterfront

Stockton's community events and fireworks held at Banner Island Ballpark (404 W. Fremont St.) and University Plaza Waterfront Hotel (110 W. Fremont St.). Gates open at 1 p.m. Free youth baseball clinic hosted by Major League Baseball alumni (clinic instructed by former MLB and hall of fame members) at 2 p.m. Batting practice for former MLB and hall of fame members at 4 p.m. Legends of Baseball Vintage Showdown baseball game featuring the Legends of Baseball at 6 p.m. Live music/band at 8 p.m. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. $5. Folsom Pro Rodeo

Raley Field will host a Fourth of July celebration. July 4th Festival of Family Fun at Jack London Square

Celebrate Independence Day on the Oakland waterfront at Jack London Square's July 4th Festival of Family Fun. Offering interactive activities and performers, including a bubble wrangler, jugglers, magicians, Uncle Sam stilt walkers, petting zoo, face painters, balloon artists, hula hoopers, bike rentals, puppet shows, craft making, fire engines and performances from the Circus Spire Youth Troupe. 11 a.m. Jack London Square, Broadway and Embarcadero, Oakland. Patriotic Music at Children's Fourth of July Parade

The Yuba Sutter Symphony will provide patriotic music at the Yuba City Children's Fourth of July parade, set for 10 a.m. at the Town Square fountain in Yuba City. Free admission; donations accepted. (530) 671-2029.

Suisun City Independence Day Celebration

July 4th on the Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet

Tour the ship and enjoy a day filled with food, games and a live concert on the Flight Deck beginning at 3 p.m. with Bay Area Heat, Celtic rock band Tempest and the Stacy Adams Band. Arden Arcade's Parade

The 12th Annual Arden Arcade Spirit of Freedom Parade will begin at 10 a.m. beginning at the Sacramento County Building, 2700 Fulton Ave., The route goes south past El Camino Avenue and turns on Cottage Way continuing west to Bell Street where it will turn north and finish at Howe Park. Family entertainment will be held in the park following the parade. (916) 927-3802.

Carmichael's Celebration

A pancake breakfast sponsored by the Kiwanis Club will be held 7-11 a.m. at Carmichael Park, followed by the 55th annual Elks Club Parade on Fair Oaks Boulevard starting at 10:30 a.m., continuing to Manzanita and Cypress avenues. Activities at 7 p.m. precede the 9:30 p.m. fireworks show at the La Sierra Community Center, 5325 Engle Road. (916) 485-5322.
