The Placer County Superior Court has announced that the clerk's offices will return to normal operating hours beginning July 5.
In October 2012, the court reduced hours at the filing windows by two hours each Friday due to the ongoing state fiscal crisis, which resulted in funding cuts to the court.
Although the funding crisis for California courts continues, the Legislature included a limited restoration of funding in the Budget Act for fiscal year 2013-14, according to a Placer Superior Court news release.
The Legislature asked that the courts use the funds to restore or preserve access to justice to the greatest extent feasible, court officials said.
"We are pleased to be able to announce a return to normal hours starting July 5," Presiding Judge Alan V. Pineschi said in a written statement. "However, the ongoing funding reductions of the past several years leave the court with a structural deficit. We are hopeful that additional funding is made available to avoid these types of measures which reduce the public's access to the court."
