Target Corp. said it will open a 136,000-square-foot store early next year in the Rocklin Commons shopping complex on the northwest corner of Interstate Highway 80 and Sierra College Boulevard.

The discount retailer, based in Minneapolis, projects a March 2014 opening.

Besides general merchandise, the store will include a selection of fresh produce, fresh packaged meat and prepackaged baked goods, as well as a Starbucks and a Target Pharmacy.

The store is expected to employ about 180 to 200.

Target said it will host job fairs approximately two months prior to the new store opening.

Job candidates also can apply online at www.target.com/careers or at in-store kiosks in all Target stores about three months prior to the opening.

Target Corp. has nearly 1,800 stores in the United States and Canada.
