What: The For the People Festival, presented by the Lady Salamanders Street Soccer team, will feature a street soccer tournament with an inflatable soccer field, live music and art demos in the Mansion Flats neighborhood of Sacramento. Free eye examinations will be offered at the VSP mobile clinic for people who don't have vision insurance.

What: A Summer Spectacular presented by the Cameron Park Community Services District will feature musical entertainment, food and craft exhibitors, contests and a fireworks show. The event will take place at Cameron Park Lake.

To cone or not to cone
What: Revelers can enjoy the works of William Shakespeare while eating ice cream at A Midsummer Night's Dream and Crystal Ice Cream Fantasy at Fairytale Town. There will be multiple ice cream tasting stations, live entertainment, hands-on activities, a marketplace and more.

Cost: Advance tickets are $15 general, $5 for children ages 2 to 12, free for toddlers 1 and younger. Tickets are $5 more the day of the event (except for toddlers).
Curtis Park music
What: A monthly summer concert series at Sacramento's Curtis Park begins with music from Bad Catz/Mister Cooper. The blanket-on-the lawn crowd is welcome to bring picnic baskets. Drewski's food truck will also be on hand.

Meet the greyhounds
What: Retired racing greyhounds and their adopters will be at the Whole Foods Market on Arden Way for meeting and greeting. If people are not ready to adopt, they can ask about the group's foster program.
