Longtime local bank executive Greg Patton has taken a new job as capital region market manager with Sacramento-based Five Star Bank.
Patton, 56, said he will work out of Five Star's Rancho Cordova office, focusing on the Highway 50 corridor stretching from Sacramento to Placerville.
Patton's new post was confirmed today, just hours after Folsom-based Sierra Vista Bank announced that he had resigned as president and CEO, as well as a director on the bank's board.
Patton, a former president of American River Bank who joined Sierra Vista in 2007, said he was happy to help steer the latter through the recession and said of his former colleagues: "We all love each other."
He stepped down to be part of a larger company and "make the kind of contribution I wanted to make ... I knew in my heart that I was ready to make a change."
Sierra Vista said it will be managed by an executive team with board oversight by Brady Whitlow, the board's chairman, pending the naming of a replacement for Patton.
