Due to the unusually hot weather, the city of Roseville's downtown merchant association has canceled a street party that had been scheduled for tonight.
The Downtown Roseville Merchants had planned a street festival on Vernon Street with live music, a beer and margarita garden and a farmer's market.
"At 111-degree temperature we are putting people at risk for heat stroke and we do not have the required resources in place to handle a bigger medical volume and would have to rely on public services that may already be at capacity," the association said in a statement that was posted Monday on its Facebook page.
Organizers, predicting a low turnout during the heat wave, were also concerned vendors would do poorly.
