A liquidation sale has commenced at the closing Orchard Supply Hardware store in Citrus Heights, as well as seven other soon-to-close OSH stores in California.

Woodland Hills-based Great American Group Inc. is handling the store-closing sale at the OSH outlet at San Juan Avenue and Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights.

It's also handling liquidation sales at OSH stores in Vacaville, Fairfield, Huntington Beach, Antioch, Long Beach, Los Angeles and Newark.

"We are offering significant discounts on every item in every department, so consumers will have the opportunity to purchase quality hardware supplies at a discount," said Scott Carpenter, president of Great American Group's retail division.

Last month, San Jose-based Orchard Supply Hardware filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which included a deal to sell a majority of its 91 stores to rival Lowe's Cos. Inc.

At that time, analysts speculated that some OSH stores would close due to their close proximity to Lowe's stores.

Lowe's operates a large store on Greenback Lane, about a mile east of the OSH Citrus Heights store.
