Rancho Cordova-based medical equipment firm ThermoGenesis Corp. says its AXP AutoXpress system has been selected for use by a customer in the United Kingdom.

The AXP is an automated device used for processing stem cells from umbilical cord blood.

The local company said its AXP will be used by the United Kingdom's NHS Blood and Transplant through a five-year agreement. Specific financial terms were not disclosed.

NHSBT manages six cord blood collection facilities and operates a cord blood bank laboratory in Filton, Bristol, England.

ThermoGenesis said it expects to begin recording initial revenues under the agreement within several weeks.
