Cats glance: Gray throws seven innings as Cats shut out Fresno

Highlight: Right-hander Sonny Gray (8-5) struck out nine in seven innings as the River Cats defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 1-0 Thursday night at Chukchansi Park in Fresno. Gray lowered his ERA to 2.81.

In case you missed it: The game's only run came in the first inning when Michael Choice doubled off starter Mitch Lively to drive in Daric Barton.

Mirror, mirror: Each team recorded six hits and two walks. Each starting pitcher allowed five hits and two walks. Each team's No. 5 hitter went 2 for 3 with a walk. Each team turned one double play.

Nothing to it: The River Cats' last three games have been shutouts, with Sacramento going 2-1. The Cats beat the Tucson Padres 2-0 on Tuesday, then lost to them 2-0 on Wednesday.

Et cetera: Stephen Vogt went 2 for 3 with a walk in his return to the River Cats after appearing in four games with the A's. Brian Gordon notched his seventh save with a scoreless inning.

Today: River Cats LHP Andrew Werner (7-10, 5.50 ERA) vs. Fresno RHP Chris Heston (7-5, 5.31), 7:05 p.m., Chukchansi Park.
