The 49ers and their first-round draft pick, Eric Reid, struck a deal on a rookie contract Friday, meaning all 11 of the team's draft picks are signed well in advance of training camp.
Reid, a safety from LSU, and the rest of the 49ers' rookies will report to camp July 19.
Reid broke the news on Twitter. "Beyond blessed! Officially a 49ER!" he wrote.
The 49ers traded up 13 spots in the first round to select Reid, an athletic and hard-hitting safety, with the No. 18 pick. San Francisco dealt the Nos. 31 and 74 selections to the Cowboys to get Reid.
San Francisco lost one of its starting safeties, Dashon Goldson, to Tampa Bay in free agency, and the hope is that Reid who has a similar skill set to Goldson will step into Goldson's former role.
The 49ers also acquired Craig Dahl, formerly a starting safety with the Rams, in free agency. Dahl, Reid and Donte Whitner rotated with the first-string defense during the spring practice sessions that wrapped up last month. Reid, however, is expected to start opposite Whitner at some point this season.
