A 2-year-old Woodland boy who was hit by a car and killed at a Yolo County shopping center was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.

Elijah Lewis was fatally injured Thursday at the Bel Air Shopping Center in Woodland and taken to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. Police termed it an unfortunate accident.

The child was hit outside a store at 9 a.m. after he ran in front of a car, said Sgt. Tom Davis of the Woodland Police Department. The little boy suffered head trauma.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the boy was a 67-year-old woman who was not arrested, Davis said. Witnesses told police that she did not have enough time to react before she hit the boy.
