Roseville-based Bayside Church has purchased 60 acres of land along the Highway 65 corridor and plans to build a church on the site.
The church will utilize half of the acquired acreage near Highway 65 and Blue Oaks Boulevard, where Roseville borders Rocklin. All of the acreage is within the city of Roseville.
Development of the church site is projected to begin in three to five years. In the meantime, Bayside plans to establish a temporary worship site in Rocklin.
The new church will not replace Bayside Church and campus on Sierra College Boulevard in Roseville, but function as an affiliated, but distinct facility.
Bayside said the additional church will help it serve increasing numbers of worshippers. Bayside said it currently hosts services for about 10,000 on weekends.
Officials added that they have received feedback from Rocklin and Roseville residents who wish to attend Bayside services closer to their homes.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
