BUY

• Boosted Boards: Battery-powered skateboards

$1,229; www.boostedboards.com

As if Segways weren't a nerdy-enough option for the walking-averse traveler, here comes the Boosted Board. It's a battery-powered skateboard with remote control for speed and brakes. Fully charged, the bamboo board with fiberglass deck can travel six miles at 20 mph before needing to be recharged. The company says it takes only 15 minutes of charging the lithium ion battery from a wall outlet – about the time it takes to drink a Frappucino – before you're back in business. The boards, which aren't cheap, won't be available until this winter, but you can order one now. We can foresee many travel-tour companies buying them for clients.

• Drunken airline passenger hits official

OK, so the flight was delayed. We've all been there and maybe a few of us with anger-management issues even considered slugging the smug captain. But this video shows that alcohol and stupidity are a dangerous combination, as this passenger gets handcuffed for punching the captain. Warning: The F-bomb is dropped with impunity.

THE LIST

• TripAdvisor's Top U.S. Landmarks

By now, we know not to take these lists too seriously. But, c'mon, how can you not be slightly outraged that the user-generated website TripAdvisor's top travel landmark in this great land is … the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas? The press release said the choice was based on "millions of reviews." Here are the top 10:

1. Bellagio Fountains, Las Vegas

2. Gettysburg National Military Park, Pa.

3. USS Arizona Memorial, Honolulu

4. Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center) Observation Deck, New York City
