Kings blog: Jimmer Fredette still hopes to be a part of the Kings' future

LAS VEGAS - Jimmer Fredette is at the Kings summer league game against the Golden State Warriors.

Entering his third season Fredette is hoping for a chance to show what he can do after playing 14 minutes per game last season.

"Hopefully I'll be a big part of this organization next season," Fredette said. "You never know what their vision is exactly but that's why I'm here. I'm able to talk with them, meet with them and see what their vision is. Hopefully I'm a part of it next year."

But there are still a lot of guards on the roster - including rookies Ben McLemore and Ray McCallum who are playing in the summer league game.

That doesn't include recent addition Greivis Vasquez and returners Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Thornton.

"We just have a ton of guards," Fredette said. "That's who they decided to draft and I'm sure they have a gameplan for what they want to do with this team. Like I said I don't worry about things I can't control. You worry about yourself, try to be a great teammate and be a great part of this team. That's what I worry about."

But that doesn't mean Fredette, a first-round pick in 2011, can ignore seeing his name in trade rumors.

"You try not to worry too much, but you do hear, you do wonder," Fredete said. "But like I said I'm excited to be here, I'm excited about our new organization and I'm a King until otherwise."
