Predrag Radosavlijevic has been hired to coach Sacramento's USL Pro league franchise that is expected to begin playing in April, Sacramento Professional Soccer announced Monday.

Radosavlijevic, better known as Preki, has more than 20 years of playing experience. He played 28 matches for the U.S. national team, scoring four goals, including the only one in a 1-0 victory over Brazil in the semifinals of the 1998 Gold Cup.

Preki played in 1994 and 1995 for the San Jose Grizzlies, a Continental Indoor Soccer League rival of the Sacramento Knights.

He also played for Everton and Portsmouth in the English Premier League, the Tacoma Stars of the Major Indoor Soccer League and Sporting Kansas City and the Miami Fusion of Major League Soccer. During his nine seasons with Sporting Kansas City, Preki won MLS MVP awards in 1997 and 2003.

After retiring as a player, Radosavlijevic was an assistant coach for Chivas USA. He was the head coach of the MLS team for three seasons (2007-09) and coached Toronto FC in 2010.
