Holy Spirit School Principal Fran Wise has resigned her post amid allegations that she threatened another person, according to the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento.
Diocesan spokesman Kevin Eckery said Wise's resignation came June 12. The diocese's investigation, in turn, was abandoned.
"When she decided to resign, there was no need to further pursue" the investigation, Eckery wrote in an email.
Wise was placed on suspension May 28. Eckery has said details are unavailable because the issue is a personnel matter.
"But she is suspended because we received an allegation that she had made threats and comments toward a third party," Eckery said in late May. "If true, that violates our policy and our professional standards."
Wise has been a principal within the diocese for five years, including three years at Holy Spirit School on West Land Park Drive in Sacramento.
The diocese will search for a new principal for Holy Spirit and plans to have one in place for the Aug. 19 start of the school year, Eckery said.
The diocese encompasses 20 Northern California counties, serving about 1 million Catholics.
