Medical device maker Volcano Corp. is moving production jobs out of Rancho Cordova, starting with 39 jobs in September.
In a filing with state officials, the San Diego company said it is moving its "high volume production lines" to a new location. The filing doesn't identify the new locations, and company officials couldn't be immediately reached for comment.
The first 39 employees will be terminated Sept. 2 and the reduction "will continue in successive rounds until the production lines are relocated," according to a letter to the state Employment Development Department from Yvette Miller, Volcano's senior director of human resources.
It wasn't clear how many workers ultimately will lose their jobs. The production lines will be completely moved out by December 2014.
Volcano was headquartered in Rancho Cordova until 2008.
