Former planner is assistant director for Community Development Agency

A former Sacramento County planner has been named assistant director of the El Dorado County Community Development Agency.

David Defanti had worked for Sacramento County since 2004, most recently as a senior planner, where he was responsible for the general plan update and growth management strategy, housing element update and large specific plan applications, according to an El Dorado County news release. He also held various positions with the Local Government Commission.

In El Dorado County, he will coordinate the long-term planning functions of the county's three Community Development Agency divisions. The Board of Supervisors formed the agency in 2012 by consolidating the departments of transportation, development services and environmental management. His salary will be $118,539. His first day on the job was Monday.
