Re "A monorail rescue" (Page A1, July 18): The photos regarding the broken monorail at the State Fair revealed something interesting. The cherry picker being used to remove the visitors from the stranded train had a maximum 500-pound sticker on it.
However in the smaller photo it is clear that there were at least four adults and several children in the cage. That would have exceeded the 500-pound limit and could have caused the cage to collapse. Perhaps rescuers should check out the equipment being used to rescue folks so as to not create a disaster of their own.
