The Capitals lost 22-17 in a World TeamTennis road match against the Springfield (Mo.) Lasers on Tuesday night after Sacramento was eliminated from playoff contention Monday.
The victory clinched the top seed in the Western Conference for the Lasers (9-4).
Taylor Townsend posted the only win for the Capitals when she defeated Alisa Kleybanova 5-2.
The Capitals, who had won their past two matches, both against the Orange County Breakers, will bring a 5-8 record into their final match of the season tonight against the Texas Wild in Irving.

Hantuchova advances in Bank of the West
Daniela Hantuchova beat Yanina Wickmayer 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 in the first round of the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford.
The 46th-ranked Hantuchova, once ranked as high as No. 5, played to the full three sets for the 269th time since 2000.
Wickmayer, ranked No. 56, reached the tournament semifinals last year.
Olga Govortsova defeated Sam Stosur 6-2, 6-4 in a second-round match.
Sac State men will meet UCLA in basketball
The Sacramento State men's basketball team will play UCLA for just the second time when the Hornets visit the Bruins on Nov. 18.
Also on the 29-game 2013-14 schedule, announced by Sac State, is the Hornets' season opener at home against UC Santa Cruz on Nov. 8. Big Sky Conference games begin Jan. 2 at Montana State.

New Zealand bests Italy in Cup challenger trial
Emirates Team New Zealand routed Italy's Luna Rossa in the America's Cup challenger trials in San Francisco and clinched the right to advance to the Louis Vuitton Cup finals.
The Kiwis took a 7-3 lead over Luna Rossa, which fell farther behind at each turning mark on San Francisco Bay. The Kiwis finished 7 minutes, 14 seconds ahead of the Italians, who officially will be ruled a "Did not finish" because they weren't within five minutes of the winners.
The Louis Vuitton Cup winner will advance to face defending champion Oracle Team USA in the 34th America's Cup match (Sept. 7-21).
