Twenty-five college-bound students from the Sacramento region, including students in Auburn, Davis and Lincoln, were awarded academic scholarships of up to $5,000 each for this fall, The Golden 1 Credit Union said Wednesday. They're among $320,000 in renewable scholarships given to 33 students statewide.

The scholarships, which go directly to tuition at two-year community colleges and four-year universities, were for $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000 each. Because they're renewable, some students could receive up to $20,000 over four years.

The scholarships were awarded to students with at least a 3.0 GPA and 24 hours of community service, plus a parent or guardian who is a Golden 1 member.
