Re "Don't link CHP salaries to pay of big city cops" (Editorials, July 24): I, as a retired CHP officer with 29 years of service, felt compelled to answer.
The editorial insinuates that it is far more dangerous working in our big cities than it is "patrolling the freeways." I would suggest researching the number of CHP officers who lost their lives in the line of duty compared to the lives lost in the five police departments. In fact, the CHP has lost more officers than any one of them and probably more than the five combined.
