Antique show's future debated after event in Williams brings in just $79

Williams is looking to possibly unload the Antique Show and Sale held annually in March at the city's Old Gym.

Even with an average of 350 guests and sold-out vendor spaces, the sale brought in $79 of revenue this year, according to a staff report to the City Council on Wednesday.

"I could have just written a check to the town for $80," said Councilwoman Angela Plachek-Fulcher.

Council members and the city administrator noted that the show does bring business to town.

Mayor Pat Ash said the city staff is "maxed out," and she has received an inquiry from a person interested in hosting the show.

This year's event had 20 vendors, who generally paid a fee of between $125 and $185.

The city has managed the event for three years, after Sacramento Valley Museum's staff and board said the museum no longer would operate the event.
