DeMarcus Cousins, entering his fourth NBA season, is expected to be the center of attention for the Kings, but he will face tough assignments nearly every game. With Tuesday’s announcement of this season’s schedule, here are what could be Cousins’ five most difficult assignments.

DWIGHT HOWARD

Houston Rockets

Home: Dec. 15, Feb. 25

Road: Dec. 31, Jan. 22

Howard hopes to become one of the best centers in the NBA; Cousins could have his hands full.

MARC GASOL

Memphis Grizzlies

Home: Nov. 17, Jan. 29

Road: Jan. 17

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year will not be an easy matchup on either end of the floor.

TIM DUNCAN

San Antonio Spurs

Road: Dec. 29, Feb. 1

Home: March 21

Duncan is listed as a power forward, but more times than not he’s playing center and giving Cousins all he can handle.

ROY HIBBERT

Indiana Pacers

Road: Jan. 14

Home: Jan. 24

Hibbert anchors the Pacers’ defense and has flustered Cousins in the past with his size. Cousins shot 9 for 27 in a game against the Pacers early last season.

NIKOLA PEKOVIC

Minnesota Timberwolves

Road: Jan. 15, March 16

Home: March 1, April 13

Pekovic figures to give Cousins problems with his physical style. In three seasons, Pekovic has been one of Cousins’ more difficult matchups.
